The end of the first decade and the start of the second decade have an objective political importance in the system of international relations because they confirm: a) the validity of the initiative started with the BRICS coordination; b) the originality of the formula, which has held up despite the serious political, economic and financial crises and transformations of the global equilibrium occurred in recent years; c) the value of the prospects that the BRICS initiative holds open in support of emerging and developing countries and, therefore, in the further modification of the current globalization processes. A perspective "for" different balances, not "against" the prevailing geopolitical and geo-economic realities, as has been continually reaffirmed by the BRICS; d) the competition and also the contrasts that exist between the member states of the coordination. The note presented by Francesca Manenti, analyst of the International Study Centre CeSI in Rome, on the contrasts between India and China offers a concrete example and an interesting reading of these situations

Member states of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) continue to grapple with a host of security issues, including the burgeoning ISIS threat and the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.
As BIMSTEC pushes for transport connectivity, it stands to gain from other, complementary transport connectivity projects that are emerging in the region. BIMSTEC can also take advantage of extant policy designs, and aligning its projects with the various national, bilateral and multilateral projects either ongoing or being planned.
